Our December Spanish Student of the Month, is a highly respected 2nd grader. She is the oldest in her family and lives on a farm with 10 chickens, 2 cows, 3 cats and bees! In her free time she enjoys singing and dancing, writing stories, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. The best movie she has ever seen is "Tangled" or "High School Musical." Her favorite music is from Show tunes, Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood. If you were to ask her what her favorite food is she would say, "Ravioli and fudgesickles." Some family traditions include Monday family night, Christmas Pixies, and family Halloween dress up. Her favorite part about ALA is her friends and her teacher, Mrs. Griess. Lastly, she has been to and performed at Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, Legoland, and Santa Monica with her singing group! We are so excited to have our 2nd grade Spanish Student of the Month in our K-5 ALA Spanish class!!! Congrats!!

Cultures Around the World - 2nd and 3rd Grade
As second and third graders, we spent some time in class learning about different cultures around the world. We gained a greater appreciation for others who live in countires such as Micronesia, Vietnam, Argentina, Spain, Cuba, Africa, England, Brazil, Germany, Russia, Canada, Mexico, and many others. Here is a picture of one of our fantastic ALA Spanish students wearing a pancho from Argentina. Many of our students also brought food, authentic folklorico dresses, and music from these countries. Below you will see a mother who volunteered during our Culture Week singing a song from Africa. Notice the amazing "clicking" sound she creates as she sings! Thank you to ALL who volunteered their time and energy in making this a WIN-WIN!!
